Hiroji Kubota

by sbrothier
"I love beautiful things, and I want to make pictures that lift people's spirits. I see the giving and receiving of photographs as something beautiful and personal."

Japan (signed) by Kubota, Hiroji : store.magnumphotos.com

by sbrothier
Modern Japan, the second largest economy in the world, is a land of contradictions. Home to some of the most sophisticated technology and manufacturing, it also has communities whose daily life has changed little in the last five hundred years. It is a land of great beauty, both in the landscape and in its celebrations, festivals, and traditional arts.

The Berlin Wall: 20 Years Later - The Berlin Wall Through Time - Interactive Feature - NYTimes.com

by sbrothier & 1 other
SNAKING ALONG, cutting through fields and streets, yards and gardens, the 28-mile-long Berlin Wall stood as a border between East and West Berlin from 1961 to 1989. That all changed on Nov. 9, 1989, when an inexact translation, a confused border guard and a natural longing for a better life opened a hole in that wall that would eventually end the Cold War.

by sbrothier

For over fifty years the World Press Photo contest has captured images of our times. World Press Photo has put them online with the aim of sharing our knowledge, resources and experience with the widest possible network.

by sbrothier & 1 other
